The House by the River

The House by the River
In the village,
The horses, unattended,
Still wander along the snowy ditches,
Their drooping bodies outlining
Poverty and freedom,
A delicate silhouette.

The faint morning light falls on the roof,
Leaving the old, leaving memories in the silence.
The tree shadows are bright,
The sunlight truly young.

The elder in front of the door,
With a solemn expression,
Gazes into the unknown past.
When they smile kindly,
The entire morning seems both loyal and ancient.

 The wilderness slowly awakens,
Frost and the soft plowshare awaken on the field ridges,
White cooking smoke and flames awaken,
But the low-lying cemetery does not awaken.

None of this compares to the dancing tree shadows,
Flashing with the natural fragrance,
The tall tree crowns in the wind,
Like bees burrowing into the flower’s core, their round bodies
Endlessly thriving.
This is summer,
The summer witnessed by explorers on two wheels.
